As the industry leader in high-performance bicycle lighting systems NiteRider continues to push development to higher levels with the announcement of the new MiNewt Mini-USB

San Diego, CA- June 23, 2008 -For years, the sub-$100 lighting landscape was filled only with low light output "be seen" lights that operated on disposable alkaline batteries or older technology halogen lighting systems with bulky, lead-acid power supplies. NiteRider smashes through that barrier by introducing the class-leading MiNewt Mini-USB system.

Compared to "be seen" lights that normally sell in the sub $100 price point, the MiNewt Mini-USB offers numerous performance and environmental advantages.

• · The MiNewt Mini yields the best lumens to dollar ratio in its class, by pumping out over 110 lumens, more than 8 times the output of the typical "be seen" light.
  · The Mini also incorporates a rechargeable Li-Ion battery pack good for 3 hours of run time, so there is no more tossing environmentally un-friendly disposable alkaline or lead-acid batteries away.
  · Since the user does not have to regularly replace alkaline batteries, the Mini's cost of ownership over the product life is much less than the typical $30-$40 light.
  · The system includes a wall charger, but can also be charged from any computer with a USB port! Charging your battery while in the office has never been easier or more convenient. No more losing or dragging around a charger from home to work.
  · Another noteworthy feature of the lighting system is its ultra light-weight of just 175 grams.

NiteRider saw a gap in the marketplace and found a solution to satisfy the needs of cycling consumers. "We saw a total void in the market and a very real need; a re-chargeable lighting system incorporating all the latest technologies, with great light output for under a hundred bucks", said company President, Jack Gresmer. "Lights in this price range usually are older technologies, have lower light output and eat up tons of alkaline batteries. The MiNewt Mini-USB uses the same high-performance features of our more expensive lights, including our universal bar/stem mount. It's not stripped down to meet a price point."

The MiNewt Mini-USB is made and assembled in, and shipped from, NiteRider's San Diego facility. The lights begin shipping on July 1st.
