About NiteRider

Founded in 1989 by Tom and Veronica Carroll, NiteRider develops lighting for cycling, powersports, and outdoor use. The company’s current product system spans self-contained bike lights, external-battery performance systems, e-bike lighting, rear visibility products, connected NiteLink products, powersports lighting, and outdoor lighting.

How the front-light families step up

Mako → Swift: move from replaceable-AA simplicity to a lighter rechargeable everyday system.

Swift → Micro: move from visibility-first lighting to more usable light for darker roads and regular after-dark riding.

Micro → Boost: move from compact everyday lighting to more versatile road, multi-surface, and trail use.

Boost → Dual: move when technical singletrack becomes the priority and wider trail-focused coverage matters more than general versatility.

Pro: choose when direct output control and, on Pro 1550, optional NiteLink expansion are more important than following the Micro/Boost/Dual ladder.

Max: choose when maximum self-contained Lumina output is the priority.

Pro Systems: choose when external battery capacity, long runtime, and replaceable battery-pack architecture are more important than an all-in-one format.

Rear visibility

The current rear-light assortment covers compact everyday visibility, brake-sensing options, aerodynamic seatpost applications, high-output visibility, and NiteLink-connected lighting.

Vmax+ 180: compact USB-C rear visibility light with seven modes and mode memory.
Vmax+ 180 ALTO: the Vmax+ 180 platform with Brake Sensing Technology.
Omega 330 EVO: 330-lumen rear light with NiteLink compatibility.

NiteLink connected lighting

NiteLink is NiteRider’s wireless lighting platform. Current NiteLink products and compatibility should be verified through the live NiteLink collection and the individual product page before purchase, because compatible models and bundles can change over time.

E-bike lighting

NiteRider’s Epro and Emax products are designed to integrate with compatible e-bike electrical systems rather than relying on a separate rechargeable battery. Compatibility should be checked against the bicycle manufacturer’s requirements before installation.

Powersports and outdoor lighting

NiteRider also offers Moto, off-road / vehicle, hands-free, and handheld lighting. Some Moto products use the same light engine as a bicycle model but ship with a different mounting configuration, so included hardware and intended installation should always be checked on the exact product page.

How to read NiteRider product information

Rider job comes before the biggest lumen number

NiteRider families are intended to solve different riding jobs. A higher maximum output does not automatically make one model the better choice for every rider.

Use output and runtime together

When a product publishes a lumen-and-runtime pair, read the pair together. Peak output and sustained riding output are different pieces of information.

Use watt-hours for battery-energy comparisons when available

Milliamp-hours (mAh) are not a direct cross-voltage energy comparison. Watt-hours (Wh) are the more useful battery-energy measure when comparing systems that operate at different voltages.

Beam pattern, mounting, controls, weather protection, and system architecture matter

Lumens measure light output, not where the light is placed or how the rider interacts with the system. Beam distribution, mount stability, direct controls, integrated versus external batteries, weather resistance, charging, and support all affect the ownership experience.

Current, outlet, refurbished, and legacy products

NiteRider continues to sell some prior-generation, outlet, and refurbished products. A product being visible on NiteRider.com does not necessarily mean it is part of the current core inline family. Use the current family and category collections above to understand the present lineup, and use the Outlet / Refurbished section when specifically shopping prior-generation or clearance products.

Run times are approximate and may vary with conditions, temperature, battery age, state of charge, and use.
Do not assume different brands use identical lumen, runtime, beam, or environmental test methods.
Do not infer comparative superiority from a higher lumen number, larger mAh number, or longer claimed runtime alone.
